I think we are all aware by now that we’ve rolled back to the orange level of recovery in our zone. Given the restrictions and call for heightened vigilance, we will not be gathering in any of our parish buildings for worship, small groups or leadership meetings for the time being.
I say this with a heavy heart. We’ve been so privileged to gather throughout the late summer into the early Fall with minimal disruption. Let’s be praying that this resurgence of the virus dissipates soon. Lord have mercy.
All the information you need for worship, small groups, parish events, etc. the week of November 29-December 5 can be found on the home page of our website under “The Latest.” See below for an overview:
Sunday Worship – Nov. 29 2020
1. Advent Zoom Service
Once again, we will be gathering by Zoom this Sunday. Please join us for coffee and catch up at 10:00am; the service will begin at 10:30am. Special treat: Nathan Wall from Church of the Redeemer in Toronto will be joining us to kick off the season of Advent. On that note, if you’ve got an Advent wreath, let me encourage you to have it visible for our service. We’ll pause at the beginning so that we can all light the first candle!
2. Sunday Prayers @ Home by PDF
Click here our regular Morning Prayer liturgy. Feel free to download, print, and pray anytime you would like.
3. Sunday Prayers @ Home on the Website

Donations for the Sharing Club
Before the recent set back with COVID-19, we had planned to collect food at St. Mark’s on Sundays for the Sharing Club through the Advent season. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to do that—at least not until the current restrictions are lifted. In the meantime, please drop off all donations directly to the Sharing Club at 26 Eveleigh St, Sussex.
Advent Prayers by Zoom
If you are looking for some quiet time out of your week during the Advent season, please join us on Tuesdays at 7pm, December 1-22 by Zoom. This Tuesday Sean will read a devotional poem by Margaret Avison and offer a brief reflection, and we’ll conclude with compline prayer. All are welcome! Click on the following for the Avison poem, compline liturgy and Zoom link.
Annual Christmas Dinner
We will be having our annual Christmas dinner for our friends in need on December 15 by pickup or delivery at St. Mark’s. Volunteers needed to help with delivery and food provision. If you would like to help, please contact Anne Anderson at 433-0082.
Carolling through Christmas
Unfortunately, we will not be doing the Living Manger this year—at least in the way that we typically do—but we still want to bless our friends and neighbors with the good news about Jesus, so we are planning on carolling in small groups twice during the Christmas season: December 27 & 29. Sign up sheets are in the foyer at St. Mark’s. For more details, contact Londa Burchell at 434-0306.
I think that’s all for now.
Many blessings to one and all.
Yours in Christ,
